Meet natasha, your current board trustee for spring!
A proud former public school teacher and passionate educator for 13 years, Natasha has a deep understanding of the joys and challenges faced by students and teachers. She knows the importance of supporting public schools. Raised by her grandparents, who instilled the values of hard work, service, and education, Natasha’s early experiences shaped her commitment to serving the community and standing up for others.
Her journey in education began in high school as a volunteer summer camp counselor at her church, where she introduced educational activities that sparked her passion for supporting young children academically, socially, and emotionally.
As an elementary teacher, Natasha dedicated herself to nurturing independent thinkers with strong literacy foundations. Through student-centered teaching, she guided her students to significant learning gains. Stepping into leadership, Natasha became a district literacy coach, impacting hundreds of students and later coaching over 600 teachers across Texas school districts.
Seeking to make a larger impact, Natasha joined Leadership ISD to learn about educational policy and, after completing the program, decided to run for the Spring ISD school board. Since joining, she has amplified teacher and staff voices and improved two-way communication, spearheading the district’s first Teacher Table Talks. Natasha launched the Student Governance Fellowship, now in its second year, to involve students in policymaking and decision-making that impacts their education—developing the next generation of leaders.
Natasha’s leadership has driven transformative change, reallocating funds for counselors to support vulnerable students during the pandemic and interrogating policies and practices to meet the needs of every student, particularly the most marginalized students.
Committed to advocacy at the state level, Natasha championed HB 4402, seeking to expand the statewide school accountability system. She also advocated for increased public school funding at the U.S. Capitol.
Natasha has led workshops to collaborate with school board members across the state focused on improving teacher retention, teacher wellness, and student outcomes. Dedicated to leading her community effectively, Natasha completed extensive board training, earning the statewide distinction of Master Trustee.
During her term, Natasha has worked to address budget challenges, introducing research-based tools that helped improve the budgeting process and reduce the district’s deficit by $13 million. Her focus on securing resources and building partnerships continues to support student success, as she brings her classroom experience to the boardroom, ensuring every Spring ISD student thrives.
